Tibetans and The Art of Peace

This past week marked the 50th anniversary of the failed 1959 Tibetan uprising that plunged an ancient and magestic culture into the long and relentless hellrealm of Chinese occupation. A tension filled milestone marked by prayer vigils, protests and observances.
Some years ago I took myself on a pilgrimage to 'the rooftop of the world'. I learned more than words or images can convey regarding the steadfastness of the human spirit and the ability to endure.
Here I post a few of my journal pages to honor the Tibetan people and their culture and the passing of their mystical ways.

  3. thanks indigo girl yes it was breath taking (literally when you add in the altitude!) adventure into a world fast disappearing from the planet...expansive and intensely dramatic images are in my mind 'for always'.

thanks K...going through my tibet treasure trunk I uncovered the letters from a Tibetan woman and her children I sponsored for more than 2 years...such a small amount of our currency can go such a long way in a foreign culture.

  4. Yes, we are on the same wavelength. His Holiness' speech was very sad. I knew his brother, Thubten Norbu, from the Tibetan Cultural center in Bloomington, IN., who passed a few months ago. I have seen him cry for the fate of his country, and I fear their culture will not long survive.
