Think Pixie with a Black Belt

I 've been gifted by writer Bill Ruehlmann of Port Folio Weekly with a gentle profile/review. http://www.portfolioweekly.com/ME2/dirmod.asp?sid=&nm=&type=Publishing&mod=Publications%3A%3AArticle&mid=8F3A7027421841978F18BE895F87F791&tier=4&id=6F4D1E01775F4DE7B301213985842FFCwith
I appreciate that. So often the distortions that take place upon the printed page can be difficult to ingest and like a poison they can cause harm. I am grateful that this is a man, a writer, a listener who can hear with clarity and report without needling to embellish or sensationalize...just the facts...with a good measure of heart.
Thank you for that kindness.
Thank you very much.

  1. What a beautiful article!
Also, the finished product from the elementary school looks great.
I read your comments on my blog, funny thing about the swans.. they call you too.
What's really interesting is that the magic never changes when I hear and see Swans!

  2. Hi Mary Ann
thanks for the comment on the article...always a tricky thing to put oneself out there for the press but as stated Bill was a fine fellow to be interviewed by.

Now as to swans!...I dash outdoors at the faintest inkling of their distant call... I've been known to leap out of bed to get out onto the front lawn to look up at the moonlit sky craning my neck back and back until...finally...there they are...v-ing over the house (we are right smack dab on the Atlantic flyway) pure unadulterated mysticism right there overhead.
makes me fall in love with life on the spot.
The Ursuline exhibition is in Feb. The openingn is Feb. 7
And the Oberlin show will be at FAVA Gallery in the later part of September/early October...still waiting for the actual dates.

  3. pure unadulterated mysticism! yes!
i can recall almost every swan instance, always special, always magical. we're in a flyway here too, many of our birds are heading in your direction. once i was in washington in february, walking at night... heard them before i saw them, stopped me (and my brother who wondered and didn't wonder, because i stop for birds) in my tracks. what a sight over the city(we were in georgetown). nice. isn't it great to have moments to fall in love with life all over again?

  4. falling in love with life all over again...yum yum.
this morning I can see great white egrets back in the cove gathering gathering gathering...they come as the temp drops and the cormorants begin to work...it's a fabulous pairing. The cormorants (sometimes 7-10 birds strung across the span of water) fish the cove down to the end then they turn and as they drive the fish in front of them the egrets, heron and gulls all get in line at the buffett...the sound that accompanies the scene is a large part of the thrill.
