Artist's Statements


Thank you James Warwick Jones.
Yesterday afternoon I and a number of other artist's in the 'Afterlife' exhibition at the Charles Taylor Art Center (where Jim is Gallery Director) came together to share insights and information about our creative process regarding 'Day of the Dead' http://www.dia-de-los-muertos.com/ and our own personal brush with death and/or afterlife.

It was a rich and invigorating three hours and it has me jazzed in a whole new way regarding the bridge between images and words.

After the Day of the Dead

I have two pieces in the show and am surrounded by moving and memorable homage to those feelings and folks that death evokes. I wish that the author of this article would have included mention of the amazingly rich and complex emotionally riveting shrine created by fiber artist Lynn Sward http://paperartsshoppe.com/html/adq_sp05.html as memento mori for her son Scott who was murdered in 2005.
