Saturday in the Studio

We're in the wind down phase of our seven weeks together and this group of 9-11 year olds are working full steam ahead to complete their individual projects. We have 10 artists and they have each designed their own invention/adventure. We have everything from three masted sailing ship to a fighter jet in various stages of being built, painted, varnished and ready for their debut next saturday.
I would have been over-the-top excited to have a similar opportunity back in 1969.

  1. I enjoyed reading your blog! I see you work with kids and art--that looks like so much fun! I work with special needs preschools 4 days a week and I love it! They create some really interesting artwork! I noticed while reading your profile that you also loved "the Memory Keepers Daughter" . Did you know they made a movie of it? It was good and true to the book. Have a wonderful week!

  2. thanks for the comment.

I salute you in doing the good work that feeds the heart and soul and helps the wee ones.
I love working with 'my kids' they inspire and challenge me in the studio week after week.

Yes I saw the movie of Memory Keeper's Daughter and agree ...pretty good interpretation. I'm relishing The Lovely Bones right now.
thanks for the good wishes and back to you.

  3. Hmm ... that space looks familiar. We're so glad you're back home and inspiring young people to think outside the box!

  5. funny that two of the girls are actually making a box instead of 'stepping outside the box'. They love to watch the HGTV shows and are all about making their own interior: carpets, curtains, furniture, murals and all.
